IYKYN, but if you don’t, here you go!
These are your piping-hot food trends of the week, straight from the oven.
Rarely a week goes by that a new pickle snack isn’t trending. Pickles wrapped in Fruit Roll-Ups and Takis with Chamoy and Tajin will probably always trend here and there, but recently it’s been crispy melted sliced cheese with a pickle spear in the middle.
Having the necessary ingredients on hand (cheese and pickles), I decided to give it a try. The result is… just as you would think. Not bad, not remarkable. I won’t take the time to make it again, but it was fun to try! To make it yourself, simply melt a slice or two of cheddar in a nonstick pan until it’s bubbling. Add the pickle spear to the middle and fold the sides over. Allow it to cool and harden a bit and you’re good to get snacking.
Chaffles had a major moment in 2020 along with the Keto craze, and now it’s back, but this time, with the addition of cottage cheese. As a cottage cheese girlie myself, I plan on trying this one out next week. I could never get behind the classic chaffle because it was just basically melted cheese, but this one has a ton of protein and sounds quite good. I shall report back!
What else did I personally try from the Internet this week? I’m glad you asked. The caviar queen herself dzaslavsky shared one of her many go-to snacks and I recreated it the same day. Guys, it was so good. Also, I was weirdly proud that I had all of the ingredients on hand, down to the brand of za'atar and the crackers she used. All you have to do is spread an even layer of greek yogurt on a plate with a sprinkle of salt, and top 2/3 of it with the za'atar and 1/3 with olive oil. Scoop with crackers (Danielle and I both used Simple Mills) for an elevated afternoon yogurt snack. It’s as she says, “Bomb.”
condimentclaire made French yogurt cake (gâteau au yaourt) go viral-ish at the beginning of December 2022, but it’s had a recent resurgence thanks to bakedbymelissa. The premise is that you use a container of french yogurt to measure the ingredients for a yogurt-based loaf cake. I also plan on trying this, but I’d love to get my hands on a good French yogurt first so it’s authentique.
dannylovespasta went viral on TikTok when SZA asked for his recipe for lasagna soup. Danny’s version looks amazingly thick and cheesy, but in this Sunday’s newsletter, you’ll get my version which has a slightly thinner texture that’s more akin to soup and so so comforting.
P.S. Today is National Margarita Day, so if you partake, enjoy and be safe!
As a reminder, this is what paid subscribers will receive in Sunday’s Newsletter 👇🏻
My full recipe for Lasagna Soup. Perfect for these late winter chilly nights.
What I ate this week - I track all of my meals, which makes it easy to look back and share with you guys. It might not be groundbreaking, but it just may introduce you to a healthy snack or meal you’ve not thought of before!
New (to me) products I’m loving - I love trying out new things, particularly food brands and new releases. I just picked up a few new things from Thrive Market and I can’t wait to share my reviews with you.
